I should start having an update regime. Anyway, watched Good Luck Chuck during the recent Deepavali holidays. Here’s the trailer and what I thought about the movie.
Good Luck Chuck is just one of those interesting plot line movies with predictabe storyline. The trailer almost gave away the whole story. Its quite poorly rated over at Rotten Tomatoes but personally I felt that the movie did has its moments. Sure, it was brainless and very alpha male type of movie with a few Hallmark moments before not taking itself seriously again; but it does keep you entertained throughout and I don’t mean entertained by Jessica Marie Alba alone but the movie has some memorable characters and makes use of some tried and tested romantic comedy formulas.
Thankfully, Dane Cook is more toleratable here than as a stand up comic. With less hand gestures and he doesn’t repeat himself as annoyingly like a person speaking to retards. So anyway, Jessica Alba even with flat acting, still makes it up with good looks. She makes a really good “chick that got away” role.
The premise is interesting enough to hold one’s attention about the main character Chuck (Dane Cook), who got hexed to not find true love but instead being a stepping stone for his partners to find the love of their lives. So, girls (and even a guy!) start to make use of this particular trait for their own romantic advantage. So, basically he becomes a guy slut who “gets the best tickets to the big show” but winds up empty. Problem or opportunity arises when he meets Cam (Jessica Alba) , whom he feels he “clicks” to almost instantly. So now, he has to remove the hex before he can hit 3rd base with Cam before she finds the love of her life and his life is back to being Alfie. Will he win Cam’s heart at the end? What will he do to prove his lust love for her? Watch this flick to find out.
Overall entertainment value I give it a 4/5, for re-watch value 2/5, for smart plotline 2/5, story 3/5, casting 3/5, acting 3/5. Its a 18 and above movie as it has a few semi nude scenes. Not exactly a good movie to take your first date to. Its more like a movie to enjoy with your other juvenile friends or watched alone
